Ghost Rider (2007)
Ghost Rider (2007) is a supernatural superhero film directed by Mark Steven Johnson, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The movie stars Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze, a daredevil motorcyclist who becomes the demonic vigilante known as Ghost Rider.
The story begins with a young Johnny Blaze, a skilled stunt rider who performs alongside his father in a traveling carnival. One night, Johnny learns that his father is suffering from terminal cancer. In a desperate attempt to save him, Johnny makes a deal with Mephistopheles (played by Peter Fonda), a demon who promises to cure his father in exchange for Johnny’s soul. The bargain goes horribly wrong when Johnny’s father dies in a motorcycle stunt accident shortly after being cured. Heartbroken and bound by his pact with Mephistopheles, Johnny flees his old life.
Years later, Johnny Blaze has become a famous stunt rider, known for surviving death-defying stunts. However, his life takes a dark turn when Mephistopheles returns to collect on their deal. Johnny is transformed into the Ghost Rider, a fiery, skeletal vigilante with supernatural powers. As Ghost Rider, Johnny is cursed to serve as the devil’s bounty hunter, tasked with hunting down escaped demons and punishing the guilty.
At the heart of the conflict is Blackheart (Wes Bentley), the rebellious son of Mephistopheles, who seeks to overthrow his father and take control of Hell. Blackheart arrives on Earth with his own demonic allies, seeking a powerful contract that will give him control over a thousand corrupt souls. Mephistopheles sends Johnny, now Ghost Rider, to stop Blackheart and prevent him from obtaining the contract, which would give him immense power.
Throughout the film, Johnny struggles to control the Ghost Rider persona and its thirst for vengeance. By day, Johnny is a mortal man; by night, he becomes the Ghost Rider, a being with a flaming skull, a chain weapon, and the ability to ride a motorcycle that leaves trails of fire in its wake. Despite his cursed existence, Johnny tries to use his powers for good, seeking redemption for his deal with the devil.
Johnny’s personal life is complicated by his rekindled romance with Roxanne Simpson (Eva Mendes), his childhood love, who is now a journalist. As Johnny wrestles with his identity as both a man and a demonic bounty hunter, he faces the ultimate showdown with Blackheart, who threatens to unleash chaos on the world.
