Plot Summary: Aquaman (2018), directed by James Wan, introduces us to Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa), the half-human, half-Atlantean son of Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) and lighthouse keeper Thomas Curry (Temuera Morrison). Born with extraordinary abilities, Arthur has spent most of his life avoiding his destiny and the kingdom beneath the sea. However, when the world of Atlantis threatens to invade the surface world, Arthur must come to terms with his heritage and embrace his true role as the rightful king of Atlantis.The story unfolds with Arthur discovering that his estranged half-brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson), also known as Ocean Master, seeks to unite the seven underwater kingdoms and wage war against the surface world. Orm believes that humanityโs pollution and destruction of the oceans must be avenged, and he will stop at nothing to take control of the entire oceanic world. Arthur, however, is not yet ready to step into the throne and face Ormโs wrath.
To prevent the impending war, Arthur is joined by Mera (Amber Heard), the courageous and fierce princess of Xebel, who is determined to help him reclaim his birthright. Together, they embark on an epic quest to find the Trident of Atlan, an ancient relic that holds the power to unite the kingdoms and save the world from destruction. Along the way, they encounter strange and dangerous creatures, from deadly underwater predators to the formidable Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a ruthless mercenary with a personal vendetta against Aquaman.
As Arthur and Mera fight to prevent Orm from conquering the surface world, Arthur is forced to confront his own fears and doubts about his identity. Can he overcome his inner turmoil and rise as a leader worthy of Atlantis? Or will the forces of darkness rule both the land and the sea?
