The Ghost and the Darkness (1996)

Directed by Stephen Hopkins, The Ghost and the Darkness is a gripping adventure thriller inspired by true events. The film takes place in 1898 East Africa and follows Col. John Henry Patterson (played by Val Kilmer), an Irish engineer tasked with building a railway bridge over the Tsavo River. However, his mission is jeopardized by two man-eating lions that prey on the workers.


Nicknamed “The Ghost” and “The Darkness,” the lions prove to be cunning and deadly adversaries. Patterson teams up with expert hunter Charles Remington (played by Michael Douglas) to eliminate the threat, but the duo faces not just the lions, but also the treacherous African wilderness and the fears of the workers.
