“Deep Water” is a 2022 erotic thriller directed by Adrian Lyne, adapting Patricia Highsmith’s 1957 novel. Ben Affleck plays Vic, a wealthy retiree, and Ana de Armas is Melinda, his wife, whose open affairs test their toxic marriage in Little Wesley, Louisiana. When her lovers start disappearing, suspicion falls on Vic, unraveling a dark game of jealousy and murder. The film’s sultry New Orleans vibe and Marco Beltrami’s melancholic score set a moody tone, but the pacing drags, and the abrupt ending feels rushed. 

Affleck’s brooding Vic and de Armas’ provocative Melinda deliver intense moments, with their real-life chemistry adding intrigue, though it’s intentionally cold. Tracy Letts and Grace Jenkins shine in supporting roles, but the script’s weak psychology and dropped plot points frustrate. Critics gave it a 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, noting its lack of suspense. Still, it’s a guilty pleasure for fans of Fatal Attraction. Don’t miss this flawed, steamy ride!
