The Siege of Jadotville (2016) is a war drama film directed by Richie Smyth, based on the true story of the 1964 siege of Jadotville during the Congo Crisis. The film stars Jamie Dornan, Jason O’Mara, and Mark Strong.


Set in the early 1960s, the film chronicles the events surrounding a small Irish UN peacekeeping force stationed in Jadotville, Congo, during a period of political unrest. Lieutenant Colonel Pat Quinlan (Jamie Dornan) and his company are tasked with maintaining peace in the region amidst a violent insurgency led by local militia and mercenaries.
When the peacekeeping force is attacked by a much larger and better-equipped enemy force, they are cut off and surrounded. Despite being vastly outnumbered and facing dire conditions, Quinlan and his men show remarkable bravery and resilience as they hold out against the siege.
