The Survivalist (2015)
The Survivalist (2015) is a post-apocalyptic thriller directed by Stephen Fingleton. Set in a dystopian future where society has collapsed due to overpopulation and a global food crisis, the film follows the life of a lone man, known simply as “The Survivalist” (played by Martin McCann), who lives in isolation in a forest, struggling to maintain his small farm and protect himself from potential threats.
The Survivalist leads a solitary and cautious existence, avoiding contact with other people, until two women—Kathryn (Olwen Fouéré) and her teenage daughter Milja (Mia Goth)—arrive at his secluded cabin seeking food and shelter. Though initially wary, he reluctantly allows them to stay, and the three form a fragile, tense alliance based on survival. However, trust is thin, and as external dangers and internal conflicts rise, their fragile peace is tested.
