The film begins with John Carter finally reuniting with Dejah Thoris on Barsoom after finding a way to return to the planet. However, their happiness is short-lived when a new threat emerges—this time, from an ancient civilization that was thought to be extinct. Deep beneath the surface of Barsoom lies the lost city of Orovar, a technologically advanced civilization that was wiped out in a cataclysmic event thousands of years ago. But now, Orovar’s last surviving ruler, a tyrant named Zorath, has awakened from a state of suspended animation.

Zorath plans to conquer Barsoom and reshape the planet in his image, using his vast technological arsenal and an army of reanimated Orovar warriors. His goal is to strip away the fractured politics of Barsoom and bring the entire planet under his iron rule, believing that only he can save the dying world. However, his methods are ruthless, and his vision threatens to wipe out entire races, including the Tharks and the red Martians.

John Carter, with his extraordinary strength and leadership, must rally the divided factions of Barsoom to stand together against Zorath. He travels across the desert, seeking allies, including the enigmatic Thern priests, whose hidden knowledge of Barsoom’s ancient past may hold the key to defeating Zorath. Along the way, Carter faces numerous challenges, including treacherous landscapes, vicious creatures, and political betrayal from within.

In the film’s climactic battle, Carter leads an army of united Barsoomians to the gates of Orovar, where they confront Zorath in an epic showdown.
