The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) is the epic conclusion to Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel. The film picks up where The Desolation of Smaug left off, with the dragon Smaug wreaking havoc on Lake-town after being provoked by Bard the Bowman.
As Smaug is killed, the treasure hoard of the Lonely Mountain, guarded by the dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield, becomes the focal point of a growing conflict. Thorin, overcome by the greed of the treasure, becomes increasingly obsessed with reclaiming his birthright. His behavior strains his relationships with his companions, particularly Bilbo Baggins, who seeks to resolve the situation peacefully. Meanwhile, the news of Smaug’s death spreads, and various factions, including elves, men, and dwarves, make their way to Erebor, hoping to claim a share of the treasure. Tensions rise as they all prepare for a massive confrontation. The battle culminates in the Battle of the Five Armies, where elves, men, and dwarves fight against an army of goblins and wargs. Bilbo, caught in the middle, tries to prevent the conflict from escalating further, while Thorin faces his own personal demons and the consequences of his obsession.
