Five years after the events of “Pitch Black,” Riddick has been living in self-imposed exile on an ice planet. He’s drawn back into civilization when bounty hunters track him down, leading him to discover that a religious crusade led by the Necromongers is destroying worlds in their path. Riddick learns that he is a Furyan, one of the last survivors of a race that was nearly wiped out by the Necromonger Lord Marshal (Colm Feore).
The story involves Riddick’s reunion with Imam (Keith David) from the first film, his efforts to protect Jack (now called Kyra and played by Alexa Davalos) who has become a hardened criminal, and his reluctant involvement in stopping the Necromonger conquest. The film ends with Riddick killing the Lord Marshal and, by Necromonger law, becoming the new leader of their empire.
